چکیده

Static solutions of the Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs system containing extreme black holes are studied. The field equations imply strong restrictions on boundary values of all fields at the horizon. If the Yang-Mills radial electric field E is non-zero there, then all fields at the horizon take values in the centralizer of E. For the particular case of SU(3), there are two different kinds of centralizers: two-dimensional abelian (Cartan subalgebra) and four-dimensional (su(2)×u(1)) ones. The two-dimensional centralizer admits only constant fields: even the geometry of the horizon is that of constant curvature. If the cosmological constant Λ is negative, a two-surface of any genus is possible; for positive curvature, only spherically symmetrical horizons are allowed. For the four-dimensional centralizer, all spherically symmetrical horizons are explicitly given. Finally, some complete spacetime solutions are constructed whose horizons have the structure found by our method. There are also abelian solutions of a new type. In some cases there are different spacetimes having the same type of horizon.

Breaking an Abelian gauge symmetry near a black hole horizon

I argue that coupling the Abelian Higgs model to gravity plus a negative cosmological constant leads to black holes which spontaneously break the gauge invariance via a charged scalar condensate slightly outside their horizon. This suggests that black holes can superconduct.

Quantization of maximally - charged slowly - moving black holes ∗

We discuss the quantization of a system of slowly-moving extreme Reissner-Nordström black holes. In the near-horizon limit, this system has been shown to possess an SL(2, R) conformal symmetry. However, the Hamiltonian appears to have no well-defined ground state. This problem can be circumvented by a redefinition of the Hamiltonian due to de Alfaro, Fubini and Furlan (DFF). We apply the Faddee...

Conformal Invariance and Near-Extreme Rotating AdS Black Holes

We obtain retarded Green’s functions for massless scalar fields in the background of near-extreme, nearhorizon rotating charged black holes of five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity. The radial part of the (separable) massless Klein-Gordon equation in such general black hole backgrounds is Heun’s equation, due to the singularity structure associated with the three black hole horizons. On ...

The Extreme Kerr Throat Geometry: A Vacuum Analog of AdS2 × S

We study the near horizon limit of a four dimensional extreme rotating black hole. The limiting metric is a completely nonsingular vacuum solution, with an enhanced symmetry group SL(2, R)×U(1). We show that many of the properties of this solution are similar to the AdS2×S geometry arising in the near horizon limit of extreme charged black holes. In particular, the boundary at infinity is a tim...

Hawking radiation from the (2 + 1)-dimensional BTZ black holes

Motivated by Robinson-Wilczek’s recent viewpoint that Hawking radiation can be treated as a compensating flux to cancel gravitational anomaly at the horizon of a Schwarzschild-type black hole, we investigate Hawking radiation from the rotating (2+1)-dimensional BTZ black hole in the dragging coordinate system and that from the charged (2+1)-dimensional BTZ black hole via gauge or gravitational ...
